Is this guy conning me?

I love a guy, but he told me he had a girlfriend, so i said to him maybe i wouldn't talk to him again, and we haven't talked since then. Then there's another guy i met, i seem to like him, but i can't help feeling he's conning me. I never had this feeling, with the guy before, i always saw him honest, even when my friend asked me what did i like of him, i said honesty right away. But with this guy, i don't know why i feel he's conning me, well although i like him, he's cool. Is there anyway to tell if he's really conning you, is there a gimmick to discover if he's really doing it, but not let him know if he's really not?

If you're ashamed to do the first move, then be a good friend of him first before anything else. For sure you'll discover soon the real score. But If I'm in your shoes, I'll directly talk to the guy and frankly ask him.
