Help with figuring out the next step and flirting advise?

So I figured out a way to hang out with this guy I have a crush on. We've been working together on a project, and have had little alone time and conversation has been GREAT! But, he is the type of guy who is nice to everyone, and really outgoing. My problem is I can't figure out if he's flirting or if it's just his personality.
I'm flirting with him and being myself, which is great, but I don't know what the next thing I can do is so I don't end up being seen as just a friend? I know I can't force him to be attracted to me, but how can I follow the signs to see if he is interested?

My friend knows him, and wants to mention me a little bit. But would that be too weird and/or obvious?

Step up your game... if you want him to know you like him... then let him know. You said you're flirting - but step it up a bit. Ask him to lunch or for drinks after work. Keep it a casual invite... you still have to work with the guy if things don't work out.... But with risk comes reward.
